Miami-Dade Police are searching for a man who abducted and sexually assaulted a girl who was walking home from school Monday.

Officials say police received a call from a gas station near Northeast 149th Street and 6th Avenue around 6:19 p.m. after the girl was able to escape from the man.

Police haven't said where the girl was abducted from or how old she is, only that she was walking home from a middle school. At some point, she was able to clothe herself and escape, and ran to the nearby gas station.

Footage obtained exclusively by NBC 6 showed the girl inside the gas station moments after she was able to escape.

Witnesses said a couple tried to help the girl before officers arrived.

"They were asking her where her mother and father were or whatever, 'are they in the store?' or whatever, because she was there for a little while and she said 'no,'" the witness said.

The video also showed the girl with an officer outside the gas station.

The girl was taken to a hospital and will see a psychologist, police said.

Police are searching for the suspect, but haven't given a description.
