Police are searching for a suspect who stole a truck with a child inside in broad daylight in Fort Lauderdale and was caught on camera running away from the pickup after ditching it down the street.
The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Southeast 11th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale Police said.
A parent had parked the F-150 in their driveway and left the 2-year-old in the back seat while they brought items inside. The suspect quickly entered the truck and drove away with the child inside.
The parent returned to find the truck gone but found it abandoned down the street with the child still inside, unharmed. Surveillance footage showed the suspect running from the truck.
