Suspected 13-Year-Old Carjacker Shot by Passenger: NMBPD

A 13-year-old boy who was in the process of attempting to carjack a vehicle was shot by the passenger in North Miami Beach Police, officials said.

According to police, the boy was in the process of attempting to carjack the vehicle on Tuesday at 12:14 a.m. at the 15900 block of Northeast 16th Avenue when the passenger shot him.

The boy, a runaway who was reported missing by his guardian on Feb. 20, was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive following surgery. Police say the boy will be charged accordingly in connection with the attempted carjacking.

No charges have been filed against the 25-year-old who shot the teen.

Police say that after the shooting, three male juveniles were seen leaving the scene headed eastbound on Northeast 16th Avenue.
