Suspects Arrested After Burglary Leads to Police Chase

Police chased the men through Miami Gardens before they crashed into a police cruiser near the intersection of NW 135th Street and 18th Avenue in Opa-Locka.

Three suspects are behind bars after a burglary in North Miami led to a police chase that ended in Opa-Locka Saturday morning.

It began on the 800 block of NE 140th Street, when the suspects tried to break in to a home with a 14-year-old inside.

"As I was walking around the house, I noticed another guy came and used some metal shiv to break into the door," said Vladimir, who was home alone at the time. "All I did was run into my brother's room and hid in the closet and called the police."

Vladimir said he listened from the closet as the suspects tried to enter through another door.

"I heard noises like they were trying to go in the back and use the other door," Vladimir said. "They went in the back and tried to shiv the lock. It didn't work and they heard police coming cause I called and they fled."

The men took off with police in pursuit. The suspects attempted to ram an officer with their vehicle. Police chased the men through Miami Gardens before they crashed into a police cruiser near the intersection of NW 135th Street and 18th Avenue in Opa-Locka.

The suspects bailed out of their car and ran into a home in an attempt to hide from authorities. All three suspects were arrested. Their names have not yet been released.

A woman inside the home was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. One officer was injured in the pursuit, and was transported to Cleveland Clinic in Weston. Both are expected to be okay.

Charges for the suspects are pending. They are being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami. It is unclear whether any of the men have attorneys.
