Suspects Sought After Woman's Car, Credit Cards Stolen in Miami Beach

Miami Beach Police are searching for a group of suspects who stole a Canadian woman's car then used her credit cards.

The 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt was stolen on Jan. 7, Miami Beach Police said. The 29-year-old owner left her property inside including her credit cards, which were used at the Target on Northwest 36th Street in Miami shortly after the car was stolen.

"Someone broke into my car, they jimmied my car and because I left my purse in the backseat and it had a spare key in it this person drove away with my life," victim Chantel Westguard told NBC 6 Friday.

Westguard said she had just driven the car four day across the U.S. from Canada to start a new job in South Florida. She said everything she brought with her was stolen.

"I think they have to have no soul, to go through my things and see I don't have anything of great value and my things were very sentimental," she said.

Westguard and her friend had parked in a lot on 53rd Street and Collins Avenue. When they returned from a swim, the car was gone.

Police said two men were caught on video leaving the store. Two women were also caught on video leaving the store. Police believe all the suspects are known to each other.

"My father passed away 12 years ago and everything I have of his, pictures, are in my car and I'm never going to get those back," Westguard said.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
