Health officials have lifted the swimming advisory initially issued after high levels of fecal bacteria were discovered in Miami-Dade beach waters.
The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County said it lifted the advisory issued for Crandon Beach North, Crandon Beach South and Golden Beach on Wednesday based on a satisfactory microbial water quality test result.
The fecal bacteria – enterococci – are normally found in the intestinal tract of humans and animals and can cause diseases, infections or illnesses for humans such as urinary tract infections and, though less frequently, meningitis and pneumonia.
