‘Take Me to Jail': Miami Man Arrested For Alleged Stabbing Death

Police arrested a Miami man this weekend who they say stabbed his girlfriend to death before approaching an officer and asking to be taken to jail.

Landy Gutierrez was charged with second degree murder and carrying a concealed firearm, as police booked the 22-year-old into jail Sunday morning. He is being held on no bond.

According to the arrest report, Gutierrez approached an off-duty officer near Marlins Park and asked to be taken home before later asking to be taken to jail. Officers searched his backpack, finding several items that included a knife that had blood on it.

Gutierrez told police to go to an address, where they found a victim who had died after suffering several stab wounds. Police did not release any details on the victim or their relationship with Gutierrez.

It was the second stabbing death being investigated in Miami-Dade County, as 51-year-old Robert Rivero-Diaz was arrested Saturday morning after police say he broke into the Hialeah home of his ex-girlfriend and stabbed her when she arrived home.

The victim died at the scene, while Rivero-Diaz fled in a car before crashing into a light pole. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was later arrested and charged with first degree murder and armed burglary.

Both incidents come as Miami-Dade Police are reminding residents to be on alert during Domestic Violence Awareness Month:
