Teacher Says She Forgot to Drop Off Boy Who Died in Car

Investigators in central Florida say an infant who died last week after inadvertently being left all day in a vehicle outside a middle school was the relative of a teacher at the school.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said Monday that Chanda Larson told investigators that 6-month-old Trenton Cason-Collins and his older sister had been placed in her care by another relative six weeks ago.

She says that she had dropped off Trenton's sister at a bus stop and her son at his school last Friday but forgot to take Trenton to day care. She drove to Deltona Middle School, where Trenton was left in her vehicle for most of the day.

No criminal charges have been filed, and the case is being investigated only as a death.
