Teen Killed in Coral Springs Tubing Accident

17-Year-Old killed when tube hits rocks in canal

A South Florida teen was killed when the tube he was riding in collided with some rocks in a canal in Coral Springs, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Randolph Bieszczak, 17, from Tamarac, died Sunday after the tube he was riding in with a friend crashed in the C-14 canal west of Coral Springs Drive Sunday afternoon, FWC spokeswoman Gabriella B. Ferraro said.

Jesse Ellis, a 20-year-old friend of Bieszczak, was towing the teen and 19-year-old Nicholas Messier when it hit the rocks and threw them off, Ferraro said.

Bieszczak went into the water and didn't surface.

He was found a short time later by emergency workers and was pronounced dead at the scene. Messier was taken to North Broward Medical Center, and was released Monday morning, officials said.

The three friends went tubing inthe canal "all the time," said Alyssa Hernandez a friend of the group.

Officials said Monday Ellis might face charges because he was operating the boat.

The FWC is still investigating the accident and currently no charges have been filed, Ferraro said.
