Teen Gunned Down in Drive-By Shooting in Little Haiti

A 17-year-old young man who was a student at Miami Northwestern Senior High School was gunned down late Thursday in Little Haiti. It's the second time the school has seen such a tragedy in a matter of days.

Classmates, along with family and friends, are reeling from the news Friday morning that 17-year-old Randal Robinson, a tenth grader at Northwestern, lost his life to gun violence.

Taquaria Whiley, a fellow student who knew the victim, shared fond memories of the victim.

"He was a very cool person," says Whiley.  "He wasn't, like, into the streets. He always wanted to keep a person happy, put a smile on their face, joke around."

Miami Police say Robinson was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in the area of Northwest Third Avenue and 53rd Street. Neighbors and relatives are in mourning, and begging the public for help.

"It hurts, it hurts," one parent  and neighbor told NBC 6. "It makes me want to know where my kids are."

Miami-Dade Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho took to Twitter early Friday morning to express grief and anger over the killing.

Carvalho paid a visit to the school Friday afternoon as the investigation is ongoing.

It has been a tragic week for the students, staff and faculty at Northwestern. Maurice Harris, a 17-year-old junior, was killed in one of two fatal shootings Monday night.

"It's like, once one person dies, it takes a toll on all of us," said Whiley of her fallen classmates.

Police have not identified a suspect in either fatal shooting. An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
