The 18-year-old boy who drowned after falling into a Hollywood canal on Sunday was identified by police Monday.
Jhaqcari Thompson was swimming with four friends in the canal located behind 3701 Oakwood Boulevard, Hollywood police spokesperson Lt. Nicole Coffin said.
“They saw him struggling as he went under,” Coffin said. “Next thing you know they called us.”
Someone called 911 about 7:30 p.m. Divers found the teen's body about 11 p.m.
