No. 1 – Suspect in hate crime investigation killed in shootout with police in Miami

Officials said the suspect fled the first scene near Northwest 57th Avenue and 7th Street and opened fire on officers before the pursuit ended Thursday night near 72nd Avenue.

FBI Special Agent Brian Waterman said the suspect exchanged gunfire with FBI agents and officers from Miami-Dade Police and City of Miami and died at the scene.

No. 2 - Longtime Miami Beach Police Employee Charged After Allegations of Mishandling Evidence

Jason Bruder, who has spent the last 13 years with the department, has been on paid leave since a July 15th investigation into allegations that he stored certain items in a locker under his exclusive control – in some cases for months at a time.

Miami Beach Police officials said there was no indication that any evidence was missing or that either money or narcotics was involved – adding that all cases involving Bruder for several years prior were being reviewed as a result.

No. 3 – Massive recall issued for beef produced by supplier to Publix

If you're thinking about making burger patties with ground meat, stop because there's a recall you need to be aware of. Publix is recalling 132,000 pounds produced by Cargill meat solutions on June 21st after reports of e-coli contamination.

No. 4 – Several airlines raising fees for bags

Planning on getting away? Depending on which airline you fly with, you could be paying more. Your first checked bag will now be $30, up from $25 while the second will set you back another $40. Delta, JetBlue and United have all bumped up luggage fees in the past 30 days.
