After stealing a purse at a Hollywood nightclub, thieves used the driver's license and keys within it to find and burglarize a Hallandale Beach apartment, according to police.

The victims live in the area of NE 14th Avenue and 6th Street in Hallandale Beach. A man and woman are seen on surveillance video taking out a television and numerous purses.

Police said they gained entry by stealing a purse that contained keys and identification from the Spice Resto-Lounge in Hollywood on April 28.

"It was scary," a victim said. "First when we opened the door, the lights were on but we remembered we turned off the lights, so it was really scary."

The man and woman took three laptops, jewelry and cash, according to the victim, who estimates up to $8,000 worth of items were taken.

The Hallandale Beach Police Department recommends burglary victims report the crime to authorities and to change locks.,

"Be mindful of your property. there are people out there who are opportunists who look for situations like this to take your property and victimize you," HBPD Sgt. Pedro Abut said.
