The Miami-Dade Police Department said two male teenagers who escaped from the Miami Youth Academy substance abuse center remain at large.
One of the teens, identified as 16-year-old Jason Posey, was caught soon after the Sunday evening escape. Greggory Ruiz, 16, and Jonathan Jacobo, 15, are still on the loose, according to police.
The teens broke a window in a classroom to leave the facility, according to authorities.
MDPD detective Angel Rodriguez said the suspects "can be violent."
"Please don’t confront them. Do not engage them in any way, shape or form but call 911 immediately," Rodriguez said.
The state-owned Miami Youth Academy is located at 10855 SW 84th Street and houses up to 28 male teens aged 14 to 18 who have been assessed to need substance abuse services in a residential environment.
"The program is highly structured, utilizing evidence-based practices to provide secure care, treatment and supervision. Youths receive daily psychotherapeutic services, including individual, family and group counseling, cognitive skills training, and relapse prevention training by qualified mental health and substance abuse professionals under the supervision of a licensed psychologist," according to the Florida Department of Justice.
