Toddler Critical After Near-Drowning in Lauderdale Lakes

A 2-year-old boy was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition after he was pulled from a pool in Lauderdale Lakes Sunday, officials said.

The incident was reported at a home in the 3900 block of Northwest 33rd Terrace, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles said.

It's unknown how long the toddler was in the water and when fire rescue workers arrived CPR was already in progress, Jachles said.

The toddler had no pulse and wasn't breathing, according to Jachles.

A neighbor said the family was preparing to go to church when the boy stepped outside when no one was looking. His parents later found him in the pool, the neighbor said.

No other information was immediately known.
