Trio of Toothbrush Thieves Busted in Boca

Group stole and sold millions in dental hygiene products: Police

A trio of Boca Raton crooks who stole millions of dollars worth of toothbrushes and dental hygiene products are behind bars Thursday, police said.

Brian Hegmann, 26, Laura Ann Healy, 23, and Igor Roytikh, 44, were all arrested Wednesday afternoon for their roles in the massive scheme, according to WPTV.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Hegmann and Healy robbed from stores like CVS, Walgreen's and Publix throughout South Florida, targeting high-end toothbrushes and whitening strips.

The two then brought the dental items to Citi Pawn at 909 N. Dixie Highway in Boca Raton, where Roytikh, the manager, paid for the stolen items, authorities said. Roytikh then sold the items on auction sites like eBay.

"They're considered professionals," Palm Beach County Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Keith Conley said. "They do a large quantity on a daily basis. They work from morning until night."

The group stole an estimated $3.2 million worth of products, bringing in over $2.5 million, authorities said.

"If it's free for them to steal, it's easy money," Conley said.

Hegmann was charged with three counts of dealing in stolen property and was being held on $60,000 bond. Healy was charged with dealing in stolen property and fraud and was being held on $18,000 bond. Roytikh was charged with three counts of dealing in stolen property, fraud, larceny and resisting arrest, and was being held on $34,500 bond.

It was unknown whether they had attorneys.
