Top Fried Chicken Sandwich Spots In South Florida

The debate of which came first, the chicken or the egg, has been around for ages but now there's a new chicken war that has been chirping online. Popeyes, Wendy's and Chick-fil-A have been in a heated back and forth argument on which fried chicken sandwich reigns supreme.

The social media battle has captivated the countries' attention and has generated long lines at fast-food chicken restaurants. But if you're looking to get a good fried chicken sandwich, without the beef or the wait, you're in luck because South Florida has some good fried chicken spots.

Here are a few places where you can get some juicy, crispy crunchy chicken sandwiches.

Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich

Time Out Market Miami

1601 Drexel Ave

Miami Beach, FL 33139

Nestled inside the bustling "Time Out Market Miami," you'll find a Southern-inspired Korean spicy fried chicken sandwich that will turn your head. Top Chef winner and Floridian, Jermey Ford, has changed the game when it comes to fried chicken sandwiches with this creation.

It has everything that you would expect from a traditional spicy fried chicken sandwich—pickles, buns and a huge fried chicken breast. But what makes this dish a must-have is the cucumber kimchi, lemon aioli, and a spicy garlic ginger hot sauce, that packs the heat without over-doing it.

"It's more of a balanced sauce and then with the cucumber kimichi, the sandwich has a kick of spice with a freshness," Chef De Cusine Carlo Lopez said.

BRGR Stop

Captain Crunch Chicken Sammie

1931 E. Sunrise Blvd

Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33304

Cereal meet chicken sandwich. Brgr Stop's Captain Crunch Chicken Sammie may be the most creative way to enjoy a chicken sandwich. As an ode to the popular cereal, Captain Crunch is used as breading for the eight-ounce chicken breast.

"By putting Captain Crunch as a breading, when you taste it you're getting a sweet taste, along with a spicy feel to the sandwich," Esteban Smith, General Manager of BRGR Stop said.

The sandwich is topped with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, laid on a fresh brio bun and drizzled in a housemade sweet Sriracha sauce.

KUSH by Lokal

Farm Style Chicken Sandwich

2003 North Miami Avenue

Wynwood, FL 33127

Step into KUSH and you feel as if you've traveled three-thousand miles away to the west coast. Located in the heart of Wynwood and known for their rotating list of craft beer, you'll instantly feel relaxed the minute you step inside this joint. You'll also get some peace of mind when you try their Farm Style Chicken Sandwich. Everything on the burger is locally sourced from Florida farms.

The free-range chicken breast is fried and melted with jack cheese, topped with arugula and avocado. It's served on a honey whole wheat bun and paired with a side of BBQ sauce. It's also an impressive size but you'll be too busy chomping it down to notice.

"By the third bite, you will be like "I'm going to finish this, I have to." because it's that kind of sandwich, it's that good," Amanda Delgado, assistant manager for KUSH by Lokal.

Make sure to pair this fried chicken sandwich with their Kaptain Kush, a pale ale beer with Pineapple and Hibiscus, brewed at the Tripping Animals Brewing Co. in Doral.

Mr. and Mrs. Bun

Pollo Chi Jao Kai and BBQ Boneless Chickens Wings

15572 Sunset Dr,

Miami, FL 33193

Your social media feeds need to include the Peruvian style fried chicken sandwiches at Mr. and Mrs. Bun. The pollo chi jau kay has a homemade bun with oriental fried chicken, a relish of turnips, carrots and is drizzled in oysters sauce.

If you're in the mood for something with a kick, the boneless chicken wing sandwich brings a homemade BBQ sauce with blue cheese that compliments it perfectly. The boneless chicken wing is marinated for 48 hours with buttermilk before it is fried. Not only are they eye-catching, but they are also packed and stuffed to perfection.

"When we first started doing this, we wanted to do something different. We like to present whatever is inside the sandwich. Most restaurants hide whatever is inside, or melt a piece of chesse on top. We want to make something you can see and enjoy on your table," owner and head chef Gian Carlo said.

Even more impressive than their sandwiches, is the story behind the restaurant. Carlo and his girlfriend Vanessa Rivera came to the United States with money saved up to get married. But instead of a marriage, the pair decided to use the money to open a restaurant.

Years later, the restaurant is booming and the couple has yet to tie the knot. But they did just celebrate their son, Stefano's third birthday.
