What to Know

  • More than 28,000 participants are expected to take part in the 2018 Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run.
  • Road closures in downtown Miami will begin at 2 p.m.
  • The race begins at 6:45 p.m. at Bayfront Park, located at 301 North Biscayne Blvd.

There will be several road closures in downtown Miami Thursday as more than 28,000 runners will take to the streets for the 34th annual Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run.

The 5K race begins at 6:45 p.m., but detours and lane closures will start as early as 2 p.m. Starting at that time, the northbound lanes of Biscayne Blvd. will close from Chopin Plaza to NE 4th Street. There will also be two-way traffic in the southbound lanes, with extra attention given to Chopin Plaza.

A traffic bump is expected at around 4 p.m. when the first runners begin to stream into Bayfront Park at 301 North Biscayne Blvd. At 6 p.m., northbound Brickell Avenue traffic will be detoured west onto SE 7th Street.

At 6:30 p.m., the racecourse route will be shut down. See a map of the course by clicking here.

From 7:20 to 9 p.m., local roadways will begin to reopen as the Miami Police Department assesses the area. Northbound Biscayne Blvd. is expected to reopen at midnight.

If you need to access the Port of Miami after 2 p.m., officials say to use MacArthur Causeway or the Port Tunnel.

According to a news release, streets north of NW/NE 4th Street, west of Miami River and south of Biscayne Blvd. will not be affected by road closures.

The 5K race is scheduled to take place from 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m.
