Tropic Activity Continues as Officials Watch Multiple Waves in Atlantic Ocean

It's been a very active week in the tropics as officials investigate a handfull of areas that could become named storms, including one South Florida might be keeping an eye on.

An area of disorganized tropical moisture over Puerto Rico will move toward South Florida by Saturday, with a good chance at widespread rain for Saturday across all areas but drying out by Sunday afternoon.

In the Atlantic Ocean, "Invest 91L" has a high chance of tropical formation but will move due west toward Central America and should not impact South Florida in any way.

Meanwhile, "Invest 92L" has a medium chance of tropical cyclone formation. Most computer models take the system north of Puerto Rico into the Bahamas and very close to South Florida over the next five days. The early call is for South Florida to possibly feel the effects on Tuesday.

Another system continues to develop behind that and will be monitored over the next week.

At the same time, Hurricane Gert is still a Category 2 storm with winds of 100 mph, but continues to weaken as it moves into the colder water of the North Atlantic Ocean.
