Truck Drives Off Bridge in Deerfield Beach

A pick-up truck driver was unhurt after he drove off the Hillsboro Blvd. bridge in Deerfield Beach Saturday afternoon.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, a man lost control of his Nissan pick-up truck around 3:20 p.m. while crossing the Hillsboro bridge. The driver over-corrected due to rainy conditions and drove over the rail in the area of 1800 E. Hillsboro Blvd.

The car fell 30 feet onto the roadway below, just a few feet from the Intercoastal Waterway.

BSO deputies were able to pull the man from his vehicle. The driver was not injured in the crash, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The bridge is currently open to vehicle traffic, but is closed to marine traffic.
