Two young sisters have died after being pulled from a canal behind a Margate home Tuesday evening.
The children, aged 2 and 4 years old, went missing just before 5 p.m. when the father called 911 to say he couldn't locate his two children.
The 2-year-old, Louidjiena Louima, was found unresponsive in a canal just behind the home on the 5900 block of NW 27th Street and was taken to Northwest Medical Center.
Aerial footage showed fire department divers pulling the second child, Louidline Louima, 4, from the water several minutes later. She too was unresponsive when she was found.
Both girls were pronounced dead at Northwest Medical Center.
The girls' father said he was playing with them in the backyard and went inside to change and when he came back outside they were gone.
Police haven’t said how the children ended up in the water.
