A 24-year-old man and 3-year-old child were killed in what police are calling an act "out of retaliation" Sunday night in Palm Beach County.
According to NBC affiliate WPTV-TV, the two were sitting in a car located in a Riviera Beach parking lot shortly after 9:30 p.m. when shots were fired.
Both the man and the male child were pronounced dead at the scene. Another woman inside the car was unhurt in the shooting.
The victims were later identified as 24-year-old Amir Stepherson and Martavious Carn. The woman's name wasn't released.
Police Chief Clarence Williams said it was not a random act of violence, saying "one or more" individuals opened fire on the vehicle before fleeing on foot.
