Two People Rescued After Rollover Crash in Northwest Miami-Dade

Two people are lucky to be alive after being rescued from their vehicle following a serious rollover accident in Northwest Miami-Dade Tuesday morning.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews were at the scene near Northwest 17th Avenue and 70th Street. Once there, the passenger from the SUV, an unidentified woman in her 50s or 60s, was already out after being rescued by witnesses.

The driver of the vehicle, an unidentified man also in his 50's, had to be removed from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life. Crews called out a trauma surgeon due to the driver being trapped. Both would be transported to Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition, but were conscious and alert according to officials.

Police say they believe the SUV was either hit by another vehicle, described as a burgundy Chevrolet Impala, or was forced to swerve due to that Impala before hitting a curb and flipping onto the driver's side and stopping at a tree.
