Two South Florida Cell Phone Stores Robbed Friday

One location was at Plantation and the other was in Pines.

Two cell phone stores were robbed Friday in two separate and unrelated incidents.

The first incident was at a Plantation MetroPCS on the 900 block of S. SR-7, police said.

Miramar resident Jonthan Settle, 50, was caught by police exiting a tunnel he created from a neighboring business, police said.

He was arrested on two charges of burglary causing damage of more than $1,000 and possession of burglary tools. He is being held in jail without bond, police said.

The other robbery happened at the T-Mobile on 9025 Pines Blvd at about 10:45 a.m. and authorities arrested Dermar O. Hamilton, 25, of Miami.

Pembroke Police said he entered the store and told employees not to talk or look at him. He then left with seven cellphones, police said.

He drove through Pembroke Pines and Miramar into Miami Gardens. He was found at the Riviera Mobile Home.

Eddy Herrera's son, who works at the T-Mobile, called him right after it happened.

"Oh, I was really worried about him," Herrera said. "We didn't know what to expect when we got here."
