Unauthorized Police Escort of Justin Bieber Under Investigation, Opa-locka Police Say

Officers involved will be disciplined, police spokesman says

The Opa-locka Police Department is investigating an unauthorized escort of Justin Bieber, a police spokesman said Wednesday.

Police are still working to figure out which officers were involved in an unauthorized transport involving police cruisers after Bieber landed on his plane at Opa-locka Executive Airport earlier this week, Opa-locka Police spokesman David Chiverton said.

At least two officers were involved, but police are still investigating the escort of the pop star, including where Bieber was escorted to, Chiverton said.

“Police departments have off-duty, they have escort services, but there’s a process to get those things in place, to accommodate dignitaries or anybody who [desires] or needs that type of service,” said Chiverton, who is also Opa-locka’s assistant city manager. “This was unauthorized, and therefore this is something that will be dealt with very swiftly but meticulously by our police department.”

The officers involved will be disciplined, he said.

Over the past few days, Bieber has been seen in different places around town, including in a Miami Beach skate shop in a photo posted on Instagram.
