Undercover Officer Bitten By Dog Shoots And Kills Animal

An undercover drug officer trying to make a purchase Tuesday ended up being attacked by a dog that was then shot, according to Miami-Dade Police.

Police said officers had been doing surveillance on the home on the 6400 block of SW 57 place in Miami-Dade County for several days before the buy was attempted.

Miami-Dade Police said as they were trying to capture one of the residents, the alleged dealer ran back into the home.

At that point, Miami-Dade Police said the dog, a pit-bull terrier breed, at the home lunged at the officer and bit him on the leg. The officer was left with puncture wounds and was taken to South Miami Hospital and will be fine.

Once the dog bit the officer, the dog was shot by officers and died at the scene.

Police did catch the suspect and said charges are pending.
