University of Miami Graduate Accused of Trafficking LSD

A 22-year-old man was arrested on drug trafficking charges after he allegedly sold LSD to an undercover agent.

Carter William Key sold 50 tabs of LSD, worth $400, to the undercover Drug Enforcement Administration agent Monday near the University of Miami, an arrest report said.

Key was emotional in bond court appearance Tuesday and frequently broke down in tears throughout his hearing. He faces a felony charge of trafficking LSD and an additional felony charge of selling within 1,000 feet of a school.

His defense lawyer spoke of Key's character and described him as a "hardworking student." The 22-year-old graduated magna cum laude from UM's Frost School of Music and was set to start its masters program next week. He has no priors.

A judge reduced Key's bond to $30,000. He was booked at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and released on bail Tuesday afternoon.
