There's a new way for University of Miami students, staff and faculty to get safely from campus across a busy intersection of U.S. 1
The school tweeted out video of a new pedestrian overpass now open at the Metrorail station located at the campus.
Students have been pushing to get the bridge built since 2013, saying there are not a lot of crosswalks in the area.
The need for a safer route increased after multiple accidents in the area, including a student who was killed in 2005.
