The East Bascule Bridge of the Venetian Causeway was closed Wednesday evening due to a bridge malfunction. That is the drawbridge closest to Miami Beach.
Miami-Dade officials said the bridge will be closed to vehicular, pedestrian and marine traffic until further notice.
Motorists in the area should expect delays, and should use the Julia Tuttle Causeway to the north or the MacArthur Causeway to the south as alternates.
The Miami-Dade County Public Works and Waste Management Department is currently assessing the bridge to make the necessary repairs.
