Person Dies After Jumping Off Mall Parking Garage

Police did not release the name of the jumper.

A second person in the past month has died after fatally jumping from an Aventura Mall parking garage, according to authorities.

The victim was declared dead on arrival Thursday afternoon by fire rescue after what was called an "apparent suicide" by the Aventura Police Department.

Police said a witness tried to stop the person from jumping off the top floor of the parking garage near Macy's, located at 19545 Biscayne Blvd. As the pair was talking, the person climbed over the rail and struggled away from the person trying to help.

Police did not release the name of the jumper and the investigation is ongoing.

In March, police reviewed surveillance footage after a man was discovered unresponsive outside of Bloomingdale's. The video revealed that the man had jumped from the mall's parking garage, according to police. The man's name was also not released.
