Victim Hid in Room With 3-Month-Old Baby as Men Broke Into Hialeah Home: Police

What to Know

  • The victim spoke out about the incident in court on Thursday.
  • All three suspects have been ordered to stay away from the victim and her home.
  • The Hialeah K-9 Unit was involved in the search for the remaining suspect.

Three men are accused in a Hialeah home invasion during which a victim was forced to hide in a room with her 3-month-old baby.

The Hialeah Police Department said Walter Guy Washington and Elisan Harrel knocked on the victim's door at about 12:24 p.m. on Wednesday. Soon after no one answered, the men allegedly entered the house – not knowing the mother and child were hiding.

Police arrested Freddy Dilogene, the alleged getaway driver who parked nearby and served as a look-out, shortly after officers arrived at the location following the victim's 911 call.

"Hearing that officers were quickly arriving, subjects Harrell and Washington fled from the home and were captured by CCTV, entering several yards, while attempting to escape," the Hialeah Police Department said in a statement.

Police established a perimeter in the search for the two suspects at large. Harrell was arrested nearby but Washington was arrested after an extensive search involving the Hialeah K-9 Unit.

The victim recounted the event during a court appearance.

“That’s when I saw him casing the house and there was also another gentleman from the back seat of the driver’s side with a hoodie and a ski mask. That's when I noticed it was a robbery," the victim said. "If I was going to die, I was going to die with my son in my arms.”

Harrell was ordered to pay a bond of $50,000. Dilogene was ordered to pay a bond of $20,000, along with the condition of being placed under house arrest with a GPS ankle monitor if released. Washington did not appear in court on Thursday and remains jailed.
