Video Shows Florida Sheriff's Deputy Saving Unconscious Baby

A Florida Sheriff's deputy is being hailed a hero after he saved a toddler boy who stopped breathing. The rescue happened last month at the tax collector's office in Tampa.

Shakira Nelson panicked when her 15-month-old son Cory stopped breathing. She handed her unconscious son to a stranger. Turns out that stranger was Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputy Steve Donaldson. The deputy had just finished infant CPR training.

"You know, I was afraid I was going to break him. Infant CPR is obviously a more delicate procedure than on an adult."

Surveillance footage captured the entire ordeal.

Nelson says she is thankful for deputy Donaldson's heoric actions. But, the deputy does not take all of the credit. "When I had Cory in my arms, I said a little prayer and said God give me strength to save this baby. And He did," said Donaldson.
