Video Shows Pedestrian Crossing Tracks While Brightline Train Approaches

A South Florida resident had his camera rolling as two pedestrians walked across train tracks as a Brightline train was approaching the West Palm Beach station.

Although crossing arms were down and warning signals were flashing, the pedestrians continued to cross the tracks – despite the fact that the train was approaching the station quickly.

Brightline has been working hard to make sure that pedestrians adhere to the warnings to avoid potentially fatal incidents.

On Friday, a pedestrian was struck and wounded as they tried to beat the train across the tracks at a station in Ft. Lauderdale.

On Wednesday, a 51-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed by a Brightline train in Boynton Beach. Additionally, last Friday, a 32-year-old woman struck and killed by the train in Boynton Beach.

Brightline put out a statement Friday saying, “We joined with partners in South Florida to stress our top priority – safety. Incidents like these can be avoided and train warnings need to be treated exactly like red lights, stop signs and crosswalks.”
