Wade to Return to Heat Lineup at MSG

Dwyane Wade has missed over 2 weeks and seven games overall with a hamstring injury

The Miami Heat will have Dwyane Wade back on Sunday night for their game with the New York Knicks per the Sun-Sentinel.

Wade has missed the last seven games for Miami and the team went 3-4 during the stretch. The star has been out with a hamstring injury that was listed as day-to-day. As these type of injuries tend to recover slowly, the Heat were cautious and kept Wade out as long as possible.

Before going down with the injury, Wade had played in every game this year including multiple back-to-back scenarios. The 32-year old looked strong and was enjoying a fine year. Miami will need to hope that Wade can pick up right where he left off in his return.

While Wade sat, Mario Chalmers was given an opportunity to start. Chalmers did a great job with the chance after starting the year as a reserve. The guard will head back to the bench now but he should still see a fair amount of minutes each game in the rotation.

Wade is averaging 19.8 points per game this season along with 6.4 assists which are both increases over the 2013-14 campaign. Last season, Wade also sat often especially during the second game of a back-to-back. Without LeBron James in town, the Heat have needed Wade on the court more often this year even at the expense of his aging knees.

Chalmers meanwhile this year is averaging 18.6 points and six assists per game himself. Chalmers has also put up better numbers than starting point guard Norris Cole. It still remains possible that the two guards switch roles at some point this season.

The Heat will tip off their game at Madison Square Garden at 7:30 p.m.
