    Miami-Dade Police responded after a suspect wanted on weapons charges barricaded himself inside an Opa-locka home Wednesday.

    A suspect wanted on weapons charges barricaded himself inside an Opa-locka home Wednesday when officers attempted to serve a warrant, officials said.

    The incident happened at 14100 Northwest 24th Avenue, Miami-Dade Police said.

    Nearby Nathan B. Young Elementary School was placed on lockdown as a precaution, school board officials said.

    The suspect, who was wanted in Broward County, was believed to be armed and dangerous, police said.
