A water main break caused a big mess on Hollywood street Wednesday afternoon.
Officials said a 16-inch water main broke in the area of 19th Avenue and Wilson Street, flooding some streets and creating a 50-ft wide sinkhole.
A public works crew was at the scene trying to repair the break. No boil water alert was issued.
Hollywood City Commissioner Peter Hernandez said the water main break appeared to be caused by an old pipe that gave way. Hernandez said he's worried pipes will continue to burst until funds are set aside to repair the city's infrastructure. It's an issue voters will decide on in November.
At least 20 homes lost water pressure as a result of the water main break.
The cause of the break is being investigated.
