Ways to Land Rewarding Job Without Bachelor's Degree

Landing a good paying job doesn't necessarily require a bachelor's degree.

Broward College said more and more students are earning good cash in some hot fields now with just an associate's degree or certification.

One of those program is the Marine Engineering Management Program. Students learn to build and repair engines for boats and yachts.

Boating is an $8 billion industry in South Florida and faculty said there is a demand for people who can maintain and fix these boats.

"The possibilities of getting employment are very great. As a matter of fact, two-thirds of my class are already employed in the marine industry, working right now," said Ken Kortier, Marine Instructor.

"Down here in South Florida, there's unlimited opportunity. Once you finish this program, you can get a career in multiple different areas because this program covers everything," said Clay Weissing, Broward College student.

Some of the students will start earning $50,000 a year as a marine technician and can quickly approach six figures.

Broward College said it has just launched 14 new associate and certificate programs in fields expected to see the biggest job growth over the next decades.
