Miami

Week Two Preview: Dolphins at Patriots

The Dolphins will look for their first win of the season on Sunday against the Patriots

The Miami Dolphins will take on the New England Patriots on Sunday at Gillette Stadium.

After a tough loss in Seattle last week, Miami will need to try and rebound in what figures to be another difficult game. Even without Tom Brady, the Patriots will not be an easy team to defeat. Playing on the road, New England beat Arizona last week to move to 1-0 on the season.

Without Brady, the Patriots have turned to Jimmy Garoppolo as their quarterback. The 24-year old was productive last week and was a key reason that the Patriots came away winners. While it is difficult to take the place of Brady, Garoppolo went 24-33 with a touchdown pass. The third-year QB threw no interceptions and a rating of 106.1.

On Miami's side, Ryan Tannehill will look for a better day than he had in Seattle. The quarterback was 16-29 with no touchdowns last week in the air. Tannehill did run a ball into the end zone for Miami's only touchdown of the game. Tannehill also nearly connected with Kenny Stills on a TD earlier in the game. Complicating matters for the QB was a flurry of hits rushed passes. The Dolphins will need a better showing from their offensive line in this one.

Part of the key to Miami winning this game will be its ability to rush Garoppolo. If the Dolphins can replicate Seattle's effort from last week defensively, this could end up being a nice upset win for the team. That task could be made more difficult however due to a depleted defense. Mario Williams missed practice this week as he goes through the NFL's concussion protocol.

The running game was relatively quiet for the Dolphins last week. Arian Foster did not tally many yards in his first game as the starting RB. In fact, Tannehill averaged more yards per carry (3.4) than Foster did and also added the aforementioned TD. Foster will need to give Miami more than the 38 yards and 2.9 YPC he gave it last week.

Sunday's game will get underway at 1:00 p.m.
