Authorities are investigating after a woman was struck and killed by at least three vehicles while trying to cross I-595 in Davie Thursday night.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the unidentified woman was struck on the westbound side of I-595 near Davie Road around 9:15 p.m.
At least three vehicles that hit the woman stayed on the scene, but more cars might have struck her and left, the FHP said.
The FHP said the other drivers may not have even realized they hit a person.
Authorities are also trying to determine why the woman was crossing the highway when she was hit.
The crash caused all westbound lanes of the highway to be closed for around five hours.
