Man in Wheelchair Robbed After Bus Trip

Miami Police looking for suspect who stole cash, phone from disabled man

Miami Police are looking for a thief who robbed a wheelchair-bound man after the two got off a county bus.

Police say the victim befriended the suspect as they rode a Miami-Dade bus on July 22.

When both men exited the bus at the Northwest 22nd Avenue and West Flagler Street stop, the suspect asked the victim for a cigarette, police said.

But when the victim took out his pack of cigarettes, his money fell out, and the suspect robbed him, police said.

The suspect took off on foot with the disabled man's money, cigarettes and cell phone.

Police describe the suspect as a white Hispanic male, around 20 years old, 5-foot-7 and around 145 pounds. Surveillance video on the bus caught the man's face, but he's still at large.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
