Wicked Weather Strikes Miami-Dade, Broward Counties Tuesday Evening

Across South Florida, massive rain along with a night show of lightning and thunder made for quite the evening.

A flood advisory was issued for Northeast Miami-Dade County, part of an area that has been in the national spotlight thanks to the Zika outbreak that has struck the area.

At Miami International Airport, a tower was struck by lightning around 7:30 PM. Officials say that the radar kept operating and technicians quickly restored phone lines and radio frequencies that were affected. According to the Miami International Airport's website, there have been 59 delays and 10 cancellations.

Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood International Airport had nearly 150 flights were delayed at one point with five cancellations as a result of the weather.

Florida Power and Light reported 14,371 power outages in Miami-Dade County and 1,722 in Broward County.
