The wife of NFL legend and South Florida resident Lawrence Taylor was taken into custody Thursday on charges that include battery against the former football star.

42-year-old Lynette Taylor was arrested in Pembroke Pines and appeared before a judge Friday, where she faces a charge of resisting arrest without violence. Her bond was set at $2,500.

According to the arrest report, Lynette Taylor was sitting in the living room of their home and is alleged to have thrown an object at her husband, who was standing in the kitchen. Lawrence Taylor sustained a three-inch cut to the back of his head.

When police arrived, Lynette admitted to throwing the object and refused to stand up when asked. She was physically removed from the house and placed under arrest.

Lynette was ordered to stay 500-feet from her husband and have no contact with him, including via phone, text or email. She has been arrested three times before for domestic violence, with the latest happening in 2008.

The two have been married since 2007. Lawrence Taylor, who played 13 seasons with the New York Giants and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, has had several brushes with the law in recent years.

In 2009, he was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident in Miami-Dade County. He was later arrested in 2011 on charges he allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl. Taylor later pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and was sentenced to six years probation.
