A woman who went to Ultra Music Festival said she will seek legal action against the Miami Police Department, alleging an officer broke her arm through excessive use of force.

Alessandra Hernani, 23, said the incident occurred Sunday when she was waiting in line to enter the festival with her boyfriend. That's when she said people illegally attempted to enter the EDM event. Police attempted to control the situation.

"People were, like, hopping over the rails. Doing, like, acrobatic things, to be honest," Hernani said. "Everybody was scattering and at this point, the cops were just looking for somebody to grab."

One officer grabbed Hernani and "kept twisting her arm more out of place until it broke," she said.

The Miami Police Department said it has launched an internal affairs investigation into the incident.

Hernani, who hired an attorney on Tuesday, is awaiting surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

"I communicated several times I had an ID and a ticket present," Hernani added. "It was my third day. I even had wristbands from being inside the festival."
