A woman was able to fight off an armed purse thief who was caught on camera pistol-whipping her during a robbery attempt on a Miami street corner Thursday morning.
The incident happened just after 5 a.m. near a bus stop at Southwest 8th Avenue and 1st Street, Miami Police officials said.
Police said the armed suspect hit the woman on the head and tried to take her purse, but she refused to give it up so he fled.
The incident was captured on a nearby surveillance camera. The woman was waiting for a bus on her way to work a shift at a nearby restaurant.
Fire rescue workers treated the woman at the scene. Robbery detectives are investigating the incident.
