Woman Grazed by Bullet in Miami Publix After Cop's Gun Accidentally Fires

An off-duty City of Miami police officer accidentally fired a gun while in line at a Publix Wednesday, with the bullet grazing a woman who was behind the officer.

The incident happened at the Publix at 16800 N. Kendall Drive.

Miami-Dade Police officials said the officer had reached into his pocket when the gun accidentally fired. The bullet hit the ground then ricocheted and grazed the woman's leg.

She was treated at the scene and didn't go to the hospital.

Police have not released the names of the victim or the officer. They're investigating the incident as an accident.
