Woman Hoisted Off Carnival Sensation Cruise Ship After Elevator Fall: Coast Guard

A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew hoisted a woman off the Carnival Sensation cruise ship after she fell in an elevator Wednesday, the agency said.

The 52-year-old woman severely injured both legs and was flown to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach in stable condition, the Coast Guard said in a news release.

She fell at about 1:30 p.m., the Coast Guard said in an email to NBC 6.

The crew from Coast Guard Sector Miami was launched immediately after being notified by cruise ship personnel about the incident, which occurred when the Sensation was near the Palm Beach Sea Buoy.

Carnival did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday night.
