Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Fort Lauderdale, Police Searching for Driver

Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who killed a woman as she crossed the street in Fort Lauderdale Monday night.

The crash happened shortly after 8 p.m. as the 42-year-old woman, identified as Wendy Cochran, was crossing in the 1400 block of Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale Police said.

Cochran was struck by a 2014-2015 white Mazda 6, throwing her to the ground. The car drove off without stopping to render aid, police said.

After the first car sped off, Cochran was struck by a second vehicle, which stayed at the scene. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
