Elderly Woman Run Over By Her Own Car: Deputies

The woman was listed in stable condition Friday

An elderly Boynton Beach woman who was injured being hit by her car was listed in stable condition Friday.

The 82-year-old woman got out of her vehicle to get her mail near her Oakwood Lakes home on Thursday. But instead of putting the car in park, she had it in reverse and it hit her, the Palm Beach Post reported.

The car continued to move in circles for 15 minutes without crashing into anything on the street, according to the newspaper.

A Palm Beach County Fire Rescue employee on the scene who tried to jump into the car was dragged when his watch got stuck on the bumper, WPTV  reported.

A sheriff’s office spokeswoman said a lieutenant finally stopped the moving vehicle with his patrol car.

The woman and the firefighter were taken to Delray Medical Center. The firefighter sustained scrapes and bruises.
