Woman Struck by Watercraft While Sitting on Beach: MFR

A woman is recovering after she was struck by a watercraft while sitting on the beach, according to officials.

On Monday just before 2:30 p.m., Miami Fire Rescue Fireboat Central was dispatched to Pace Picnic Island.

Crews arrived to the island, just off 20th Terrace and North Bayshore Drive, where they found a 41-year-old woman who had been struck by a watercraft.

According to witnesses, it appeared the man driving the watercraft was having some difficulties with the vessel and ended up on the beach.

The driver was evaluated by paramedics but refused medical attention.

The woman sustained serious injuries. She was transported to Ryder Trauma in stable condition.

No other vessels or people were involved.
