Woman Goes on Shopping Spree With Doc's Credit Card

A Coral Springs woman faces charges of grand theft

A Coral Springs woman, who stole a doctor’s credit card and went on a shopping spree was finally caught and arrested on Monday after a concerned resident recognized her on a surveillance video.

Taneisha Howard, 36, faces multiple charges of fraudulent use of credit cards two or more times, grand theft, and violation of probation among other charges after sneaking into a doctor’s private office, stealing her credit cards and going on a massive shopping spree, according to an arrest report.

On July 18, Howard went to Dr. Bridget Silva’s office, and after another patient was buzzed in, made her way into the doctor’s private office, the report stated.

While Silva was gone, Howard stole her wallet and exited the building.

Silva later confirmed that Howard was not one of her patients and that she never sees patients in her private office, police said.

Howard then made her way to CVS, Macy’s, and Kid’s Footlocker, and Best Buy, charging over $1000 to the stolen cards, according to the arrest form.

Surveillance videos at each store capture Howard making the purchases from July 29 and August 4.

A resident who knew Howard saw news reports showing the video and turned the woman in to police, the report stated.

The same resident, who was not named, also told authorities this is Howard's usual scheme and that she sells the purchases she makes with the stolen credit cards.

Howard is currently being held at the Broward County Jail without bond.
